The Roster
A network assembled by hand, not by algorithm.
Tease Galleries was founded in 2014 by former Sotheby's senior curator Elena Marchetti and gallerist Hugo Brandão. What began as a private viewing list of forty-two studios has grown, with disciplined care, into a represented roster of 180+ working artists across fourteen countries. Today, a team of thirty-four — including nine in-house curators, four conservators, and six art advisors — reviews every submission personally, travels to the studios, and only then decides what enters the catalogue.
We are not a marketplace. We do not accept open uploads, and we do not list work we have not seen. The roster is also kept alive by a quiet partnership programme with thirty-eight design schools — Parsons, RISD, Central Saint Martins among them — through which we discover emerging studios early in their practice and bring them into the conversation before the secondary market takes notice.

“We accept a studio when we would still collect from them if the catalogue did not exist. The work has to hold a wall in a private home, in a hotel lobby, in a museum — in that order of difficulty. If it cannot do all three, it is not ready for the roster.”

Once a single inquiry crosses $10,000 in consideration, a named advisor with an average tenure of seven years is assigned to the account. They sit beside the collector through selection, condition review, framing, placement, and the long quiet afterwards.

Two Viewing Rooms, By Appointment
Pre-purchase inspection is available in our New York rooms at 412 West 14th Street and in Lisbon, by appointment only. Travelling for the work is not required — we bring the work to you, or to the room, whichever suits the collector.
